Cricket is one of the more famous ball and bat games in the world. India is the current world champion, and their presence in this aged game is undeniable. In the west, baseball is the more famous, but cricket was actually the first ball and bat game, and it inspired the game of rounders, which is what gave rise to baseball and the two games are actually more similar than one may think. But they do have their differences too. But we digress. Cricket is a fun game, and below are some fun facts that you may or may not already know.

Cricket has been around for many centuries, and the earliest ever reference to the sport being played date back to as early as 1598, and that was in England. Owing to the long time the sport has been around, it has risen to be the second most popular sport in the world. More than half the countries in the world actively play the sport.
In regard to its relationship with baseball, cricket is played in a different kind of pitch with cricketers having more padded protection than baseball players. That’s probably because the cricket ball is a lot harder than that used in baseball.
